Alexandra’s work has the ability to slow the viewer down and to take him or her out of the constant digitally enhanced flow of information. Her paintings allow you to process the history of ideas that lead to their formation, and contemplate the new ideas that might come in the future. She feels that this is a vital aspect of art. “We’re in a place where the younger generations are having fewer rites of passage because information is spread digitally,” she says. “ To appreciate art, you have to slow down and spend time with it. It slows you down regardless of whether it was the artist’s intention or not.”
